How Much Does It Cost? 

Whilst some vehicles like agricultural and industrial vehicles are now allowed free registration renewal, many regular motorists are still required to pay a certain fee for their vehicle registration renewal. 

The MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price), weight, and age of the car are all taken into consideration when calculating the fee of registration renewal in Michigan. Thankfully you do not have to calculate the costs yourself, but you should know that prices range from under $100 to a few hundred dollars depending on these factors. 

Although you are allowed to renew your vehicle registration for up to 10 months after its expiration date, additional penalty fees do apply. In Michigan, the charge is $10 and a convenience charge of 1.5% of the transaction amount is added for those who renew online with a credit card.
