Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will have a wide release on both old and new consoles. Yes, the PS4 and Xbox ONE versions looks outstanding, but the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions hold up well on their own.

Take a look:

The PS4/Xbox ONE versions have a noticeably better draw distance and a heck of a lot more foliage. The resolution on the PS4 is 1080p with the Xbox version coming in close behind at 900p. They’re more detailed, yes, but not so much that the average consumer will think twice about buying a newer console.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions lag behind visually only by a bit. Those two consoles, one of them being a decade old, really hold up well. It’s a true testament to hardware that some people might say is dated. Aside from the visuals, both games offer the same amount of content and MGSV holds a lot of content.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases September 1st and is the last game in the MGS series. Famed creator Hideo Kojima is parting from the developer Konami, so this is truly the last one. Finally Hideo, you stuck to your word.
