And what are the types of data or files involved?
Message Size Limit Reached- Communication between us has different ways. Messages are one way. According to the calculated statistics in 2021, we approximately sent 319.6 billion e-mails every day. The average number of business e-mails is 121 e-mails for each person.
There are different types of messages; mobile phones have SMS and MMS. SMS differs from MMS; SMS is only a message that contains text while MMS involves text, images, and videos. E-mail is another type that involves text, images, videos, and files. Also, Pop-Up messages on websites and applications are another type of message.
Commonly, A message consists of different parts. These parts are the subject, the body, the conclusion, and the residual message. The residual message is commonly the sender’s name, the sender’s information like his/her position, and details of the company or organization he/she belongs to.
The types of data or files that are involved in a message may be a text, an image “a JPG file”, audio, a PDF, a Word file, a PowerPoint, etc…
What are the tones of different messages?
There are different types of tones of the language to use according to the purpose of the message and the person you need to address in your message. A professional message is a formal message that requires the use of a very precise, clear, professional, and an accurate tone. We use professional messages during our daily work, at university, and also during postgraduate years of study. We also use them to apply for a job or apply for job gigs. Another message tone is the personal message to address a family member, a friend, or a colleague.
Platforms for sending messages
We use different platforms to send and receive messages such as Yahoo, Gmail, SMS, and MMS over mobile networks, to report technical issues or receive support for internet-related issues, online shopping, or for our recent time to communicate work to submit it or make different deals.
Maximum size of the message according to the used platform
For Facebook Messenger, the maximum size limit per message is 25 megabytes. For WhatsApp, the maximum size limit per message is 16 megabytes for files attached and for even forwarded messages and is approximately equal to 90 seconds to 3 minutes according to the quality of audio or video.
For outlook, the limit for the attached files per message is 20 megabytes, and sometimes it can be 25 megabytes or more. For Gmail, the size limit for all the attachments is 25 megabytes. For Postfix, the size limit is 10 megabytes. For office 365, the size limit is 150 megabytes. For the Azure queue, the limit is 64 megabytes for storing a large number of messages. For most phones, the limit for SMS and MMS is 160 characters or in other words; 300 kilobytes.
“Message size limit reached” why does that happen?
And what are the possible solutions?
Did you see this phrase before: “message size limit reached”?
Well, a lot of us face this phrase when we try to send a message, and it is unfortunate when we face this problem, especially in a time of rush or when it is an e-mail you need to send for work or your boss.
We reach the maximum size limit for a message when the number of letters, number of words, or the size of attachments exceeds the allowed limit.
I will try to state possible solutions for different platforms, starting from that related to work such as Outlook, and Gmail, and ending with SMS and MMS.
For outlook, you can start by upgrading your settings by selecting from the settings the transport setting and then pressing on properties to adjust the size limit. The size limit can be upgraded to more than 25 megabytes. Another solution is to compress your files or images to the maximum limit that doesn’t affect the quality of your files. You can also try to form a Zip folder containing all your files or create a shortcut for the folder after placing all your files in it. Or you can put all your files on a platform that provides an online personal space such as google drive or dropbox, then attach the link to the e-mail for the desired folder to send, and this is considered the second-best solution.
For Gmail, you can compress the files, zip the files in one folder, or upload the files and copy the link that gives access to them
For Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and any other application or website you use for non-formal communication, it is recommended not to exceed the limit for the number of words, letters, and audio or video minutes. If you will exceed the limit for text, video, or audio, you can divide them into multiple consecutive messages, or you can use an alternative application that provides more limits for the size of the message like the application ‘Telegram’.
For SMS and MMS, you can divide the message into multiple messages. It is better to keep your message short and as it is used to be said; ‘Keep it simple, keep it stupid.’
